MW-02 · Quote drafting

Create draft quotes based on your previous jobs, so the owner can review them.

This is for fabrication and custom shops where the owner handles the quotes. The software reviews each bid request, finds similar jobs you've done before and their actual costs, and drafts a quote right in your usual emails and spreadsheets.

$15,000 to $50,000, fixed. It starts with the $2,500 diagnostic.

The work order

In
Bid requests come in as emails from general contractors, architectural PDFs, or sketches. The software also uses your past quotes and job costs if you have them.
Out
You get a draft quote that lists the past jobs it's based on and their real costs, so you can adjust and send it.
Signed off by
The owner reviews every quote. The software drafts it, but you set the final price.
$15,000 to $50,000 · weeks set in the diagnostic Ongoing support after the build starts at $1,500 per month.

Who this is for

This is designed for small structural, miscellaneous metals, and custom fabrication shops with about 5 to 50 people and no dedicated estimator. Pricing is usually in the owner's head or a few old spreadsheets, and quotes get sent out whenever the owner has time.

Most quoting software is made for machined parts or steel tonnage and doesn't know your shop's history. This tool is different: it's built around the questions you already ask: What were the last three jobs like this? What did we charge? What did they actually cost us?

Who this isn't for

If you're a machine shop quoting parts from CAD files, products like Paperless Parts are made for that, and a subscription will cost less than a custom build. If you need takeoff from drawing sets, there are already steel takeoff tools. If you use one, this can work alongside it instead of replacing it.

The first question I'll ask

Do you track what each job actually cost, or just what you quoted? If you only have quotes, we'll start there, since building drafts from old quotes can repeat past mistakes.

Before working in software, I spent nine years at a commercial marina and structural steel fabricator in Tennessee, where I handled project costing and wrote quotes.

Christmas Cheer project for Onslow Community Outreach

I'm currently working on a fixed-price project for a North Carolina nonprofit: a platform to run its Christmas Cheer program for the 2026 season. The code is stored in a GitHub organization under the nonprofit's name, so they own what they paid for.

The platform handles registration, payments, and financial reconciliation, making it possible for a small team to run large events. I was the only early developer and led the product until 2025.

When this solution is a good fit, and when it isn't

A good fit

  • The owner writes most of the quotes, so everything waits on them.
  • Bid requests usually come in as emails, PDFs, or sketches instead of CAD models.
  • You're able to gather a few years' worth of past quotes.

Not a fit

  • If you quote machined parts from CAD files, it's better to buy a quoting product instead.
  • If you already have estimators and a fabrication ERP that handles quoting, this isn't for you.
  • If you want prices sent out without anyone reviewing them, this tool isn't a good fit.

Describe a task your team does over and over. In two business days, I'll send you a one-page plan explaining what I would build, what it would require, and if it's worth doing.

If you have a sample document, email it to hello@mythicworks.net after you reach out. I'll make sure to match it with your request.
